Dr Murphy is an experienced expert witness, providing psychiatric assessments for civil and criminal courts since 2010.
She has extensive experience giving evidence in court and specialises in the psychiatric impact of trauma, including accidents, abuse (sexual, physical, domestic, historic, and workplace), and neglect.
Alongside her medico-legal work, Dr Murphy is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist in the NHS and sees private outpatients at a clinic in central London. She also plays a key role in medical education as Postgraduate Lead within the NHS and serves as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London.
Dr Murphy has contributed to the field through peer-reviewed publications and has presented at national and international conferences on medico-legal psychiatry.
