Dr Wannan is a highly experienced Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist with 25 years of expertise in providing expert witness reports for civil, family, and criminal courts.
His extensive NHS career has spanned community, inpatient, psychosis, learning disability, autism, neuropsychiatry, eating disorder, and deaf services. He has also held national leadership roles in both clinical service development and trade union work within the NHS.
Dr Wannan accepts medico-legal instructions across many child and adolescent psychiatric cases. His expertise includes civil claims involving trauma and medical negligence, family law matters such as removal, intractable contact disputes, and international cases, as well as criminal law assessments including capacity and fitness to plead.
After qualifying in General Practice, Dr Wannan trained in psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital. He also completed specialist training in Family Therapy and Medical Education. In addition to his clinical and medico-legal work, he has trained others in expert witness practice and has published on medico-legal topics.
