Dr Colwill is a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in General Adult Psychiatry, with over 20 years of clinical experience in mental health and eight years as an expert witness in complex and high-value claims.
Her expertise spans inpatient, outpatient, and crisis settings, including leadership roles in Tier 4 psychiatric hospitals managing high-complexity cases with significant risk. She has extensive experience in community psychiatry, liaison psychiatry (medically unexplained symptoms and psychological medicine), and neurodivergence, including autism and ADHD. She also has a particular focus on mental ill health and neurodivergence among high-performing professionals and entrepreneurs.
Dr Colwill provides expert reports for serious and catastrophic injury claims, employment tribunal cases, and civil claims concerning foreseeable psychiatric harm in work-related mental ill health cases. She regularly assesses capacity to litigate and manage finances and has extensive experience in cases involving chronic pain, PTSD, and other trauma-related disorders. In clinical negligence claims, she prepares reports addressing liability, breach of duty, condition, causation, and prognosis.
While Dr Colwill accepts instructions on cases involving autism and ADHD, she is unable to assess non-verbal autistic claimants or non-verbal individuals with severe acquired brain injury.
