Dr Alje van Hoorn is a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist and former General Practitioner, currently working as an inpatient consultant within the NHS.

He also has prior experience as a community consultant, giving him a broad perspective across different areas of mental health care, including the continuity of care between primary and specialist services.

He has a particular interest in autism, having worked within an autism intensive support team, and has contributed to the field through publications, educational events, and conferences. Dr van Hoorn also has a longstanding focus on trauma-related disorders. He has lectured on these subjects, published on trauma therapies, and undertaken specialist training in EMDR for the treatment of PTSD.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr van Hoorn has held the role of Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Exeter, where he has taught medical students and doctors in training on autism and trauma-related conditions.
